Virgin Mobile France launches Comedy Club tie-in handset – France

Virgin Mobile France, which is owned by Omer Telecom a joint venture between Carphone Warehouse and the Virgin Group, has announced that it is releasing a special edition version of the Sony Ericsson G705.

The limited edition handset is the result of a partnership with the Jamel Comedy Club television show, which pits young stand-up comedians against each other. The special Sony Ericsson G705 is adorned with a unique black and red colour scheme. The handset will also come with bespoke Jamel Comedy Club wallpapers, ringtones and the 10 best stand-up routines from the show on a 1 GB memory card.

The MVNO, which has used the Orange France network since its inception in April 2006, has also set-up an online comedy competition where potential comedians can upload their own videos to the site. The competition will be open until June 15th and the winner will be given the chance to perform on state at the club.
