Truphone Mulls MVNO Option – UK

Truphone, a UK-based mobile VoIP/Internet telephony operator, is planning to launch an MVNO service in the UK. The new service will combine all of the company’s international long-distance calling, roaming and messaging platforms into an integrated service that will enable the selection of the cheapest platform when a call is placed. The company is expected to reveal the first details of the new service at the Mobile World Congress in February in Barcelona.

Truphone is an application for the iPhone, iPod Touch, BlackBerry and Nokia S60 dual-mode devices. The application allows international toll bypass VoIP calling over Wi-Fi or cellular networks. However, it is positioning itself as a portal for voice and instant messaging services by integrating MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, Twitter, Google Talk and Skype.
